Data Controller
Babykaafo is the data controller of record for the MIAA 2026 platform (Marathon & Walk, Screening, Training, Volunteer, and MIAA Implementation Partner registrations, and the wider MIAA programme). Babykaafo is responsible for how your information is collected, used, and protected under this policy and under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
What We Collect
Depending on which MIAA activity you register for, we may collect your full name, phone number, WhatsApp number, email address, date of birth or age range, region, city, and community, along with details specific to that activity (for example, T-shirt size and family members for the Marathon & Walk, or skills and availability for Volunteering). For minors registered as part of a Family Walk, we collect only name, age, and relationship to the adult registrant — never a minor's phone number, email, or other direct contact details.
Consent — Two Separate Kinds
We ask for consent separately for two distinct purposes, and never combine them into a single checkbox:
- Programme communication consent: your agreement to receive MIAA programme communications, and your choice of channel — WhatsApp, SMS, Email, or Phone.
- Health coordination consent (screening registrations only): your explicit, separate agreement that your scheduling and coordination information may be shared with the relevant screening partner. The health facility itself runs its own separate clinical consent process for any medical service you receive; MIAA's consent covers coordination data only, never clinical information.
What We Do Not Store
MIAA is not an electronic medical record. We never store clinical diagnoses, clinical notes, medical results, or treatment decisions. Any clinical record generated by a screening remains with the health facility that provided it, at all times.
Photos and Media
Photos or video from MIAA events are only published to our public Gallery once photo/media consent has been recorded — either through a general event-day consent notice, or a per-image release captured by whoever uploads to the Gallery. No photo of an identifiable minor is published without a recorded guardian consent.
Your Choices
You may withdraw programme-communication consent, ask what information we hold about you, or request correction or deletion of your information, at any time via our national WhatsApp line, 0560 700 700.
